The Olympics is so much more than watching amazing athletes play their sports. There are so many inspiring stories that can teach us about things like perserverance, good attitudes, honesty, sacrifce, hard work, etc.

The Olympics includes many people from many different cultures and we can learn so much about the various people who come together from around the world.

If you go to Beyond the Games the IOC shares many different facets that they focus on in addition to sports, like having a positive impact on the environment.

I created this fun challenge to get kids involved in the many various aspects of the Olympics. They could try to get a row, an X, a cross, a square, a blackout, etc. I included ideas for those participating through reading picture books and a list for those participating by reading middle grade, but those lists only touch the list of possible books kids could read. Many books could cover mulitple squares if you want to do it that way.

I hope this challenge will get many children reading while having fun with the Olympics. Please share your experiences and books you read.
